Los Alamos is an adorable little western town in the Santa Ynez Valley wine country. There’s a hidden gem in Los Alamos that has to be one of the most unique places I’ve ever stayed and my vote for the coolest B&B on the Central Coast! As well as one of the most unique/romantic inns in California!
Gaviota Hot Springs in Gaviota State Park, Goleta, California, is a great little stop along the way to Los Alamos. It’s near the Santa Barbara area. Therefore, you can also visit these hot springs on the way to Avila Beach, Morro Bay, Cambria, and any other cute towns in the SLO or Central Coast region. It’s just a short hike up a little mountain. They consist of three small spring-fed pools that you can soak in and sip some wine!
Los Alamos
This unique, tiny town is quaint, adorable, has awesome food and wines, and an amazing little western saloon, called Saloon 1880. The most spectacular thing about Los Alamos is this hidden gem of a bed and breakfast.
The Victorian Mansion: The Coolest B&B on the Central Coast!
The Victorian Mansion in Los Alamos is a real Victorian mansion from the 1800s. After being uprooted from up North and transported to Los Alamos, they transformed it into a B&B like no other. It consists of 6 uniquely themed rooms that are nothing short of intricate, detailed, and incredible!
Themed Suites
There’s a 50’s, Egyptian, Gypsy, Roman, Pirate, and French suite. They all have murals painted on the walls, furnishings, and music that transport you into whatever theme yours may be.
All the intricate decor perfectly matches the theme in each room. The music upon entrance, the hidden bathrooms, and closets, the mood, everything is spot on.
The 50’s Suite
This is the 50’s suite, and it’s awesome!!! It has an actual 50’s Cadillac turned into a bed and placed in front of a giant projector screen. This setup transports you into the coolest drive-in movie setting you could imagine! On top of that, there’s a Japanese soaking tub, detailed with black and white 50’s tile, and a big pink bottle of old school Mr. Bubbles bubble bath!
Gypsy Suite
The Gypsy suite is another one of the incredible rooms in the Victorian Mansion. Upon entrance, you’re surrounded by the sounds of birds chirping and running spring water to imitate being in the middle of a lush forest. The bed is an awesome gypsy carriage and the murals are incredible surrounding the entire room. The foliage, waterfalls, and animals are painted in such detail that you forget where you are.
Soaking Tubs
There are Japanese soaking tubs in the middle of every suite! They’re incredible. Essentially, it’s a super deep hot tub that you can stand up in. They were imported from Japan and transformed to match the appropriate décor of each suite.
For example, in the Roman suite, there’re giant Roman steps leading up to the tub. In the Gypsy suite, the tub looks like it’s outdoors, surrounded by wilderness, with a path of stepping stones leading into it. The attention to detail in this mansion is unreal!
Breakfast
In the morning, they serve breakfast through a dumbwaiter. Therefore, you simply schedule your breakfast time the night before and it will appear there for you in the morning.
Additions to the Mansion!
The mansion is currently expanding and adding on a real ship from a shipwreck as well as a treehouse! Both are being renovated and transformed into suites to stay in!
