Mykonos is one of the most popular Greek islands and a well-known party island. I love to drink insanely good wine and go to beach clubs where I can swim all day in the Aegean Sea and run up to a bar to grab drinks whenever I want! Therefore, I will focus on daytime fun and restaurants, but not on the nightlife party scene, because that’s simply not my forté.
Mykonos ATV Rental
I highly recommend Pakman Rentals. His phone number is in the upper left-hand corner of his website. You can WhatsApp him and he will pick you up from the airport or ferry, free of charge, and take you to your accommodations to drop off luggage. From there, he’ll drive you to his shop to get the ATVs. Pakman offered the best deal we could find, especially for peak season. We bargained with him to get the rate down to 60 euros/day (he started at 80 euros/day) for a high-speed ATV. During the low season, the most I’ve ever paid was 35 euros/day.
*Disclaimer: In general, costs are going up quite a bit in Mykonos. These prices were during the summer of 2019.
I suggest renting a higher-powered ATV, especially if two people will be sharing one. The higher the CCs, the higher the power, so if you have a need-for-speed, go for a model with 200+ CCs.
My Favorite Beach, Psarou Beach
Psarou beach, where Nammos Beach Club is located, is my favorite beach in Mykonos! The water is gorgeous and it’s normally very calm because it gets less wind than the other side of the island.
Nammos Beach Club Hack
Nammos Beach Club is very expensive, around 90 euros/day per lounge chair, which doesn’t include food or drinks. Here’s my secret way to spend the entire day at one of Greece’s most high priced beaches on a budget.
There’s a little snack bar right next door to Nammos with a blue awning. Here, you’ll get 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella for only 30 euros/day! This way, you can enjoy the ambiance of Nammos’ relaxing beach music and soak up the sometimes bougie, yet breathtaking beach at a third of the cost.
FYI: The above are high season prices. I doubt the snack bar will even charge for a chair during the low season.
Beach Picnic on a Budget!
You can buy beer, wine, and appetizers at the snack bar. My go-to is the grocery store up the street where I buy the local Greek wine and cheese. Next, I grab a couple of fresh souvlakis from the shop attached to the grocery store and head down to the beach. I’m definitely one for saving money when and where I can. However, if you prefer to splurge, Nammos has great food and lots of options.
FYI: Wherever you choose to eat, always make sure to get extra tzatziki and tirokafteri on your gyros and souvlakis
Another FYI: buy the wine in the plastic water bottles as they’re filled with the local wine and it’s amazing!
The Beach Next Door, Platis Gialos
The beach next to Psarou is called Platis Gialos and is a nice 10-minute walk from Nammos. There are quite a few restaurants, pizza windows, and little snack markets here. Another thing you can find here are the water taxis, which will take you to other beach clubs around the island for only a few euros, this is a fun option if you don’t feel like driving an ATV.
Beach Clubs
Nammos is my favorite chill club. Scorpios is also very well known and has a cool vibe, but it’s not cheap, and requires a strict dress code. There are tons of amazing places to check out on the island and many that I can’t wait to see. Let me know some of your favorite beach clubs in the comments below!
Other Beach Clubs to Check Out:
- Super Paradise
- Jackie O’s
- Paradise
- Tropicana
- Bar 180 (for the view)
- Cavo Tagoo
- Lohan Beach Club
- The Myconian Villas
- SantAnna Mykonos
Our Adorable House & Private Pool
We found a wonderful place on VRBO after learning that my favorite little Greek dreamland was bought out and torn down in 2018. The family-run beachfront paradise may no longer exist, but you can still soak up the stunning views of the water and Psarou Beach from this villa.
The two-bedroom home with incredible views has a private infinity pool and overlooks Psarou Beach. If you don’t mind driving up and down the mountain (which I think is an experience within itself) this place is for you. Check it out!
The sunrise and sunset from this house are so incredibly gorgeous. However, if you prefer to be closer to town or want to be within walking distance of bars/restaurants, this may not be the best fit. In my opinion, the view and pool by far surpass the convenience. Wherever you choose to stay, I would love to hear about your experience in the comments.
Best Restaurant in Mykonos
My absolute favorite restaurant in Mykonos is called Balothies! It’s in Ornos Beach, and I don’t think many people know about it, other than locals. I don’t want to blow up the local’s spot, but between you and me, you have to try the grilled octopus and the honey baked/fried feta cheese, it’s insanely good!!!
I love everything at Balothies! The carafes full of amazing Greek wine will guarantee you have an awesome experience! This is the place to ball out and try multiple of their delicious dishes because it’s not pricey like most restaurants in town. Another perk is that there’s rarely a wait since it’s off the beaten path.
Octopus at Balothies! Mussels at Balothies! Grilled Fish at Balothies!
While you’re in Ornos Beach, stop by one of the great little bakeries to try all sorts of local Greek pastries.
Mykonos Town
Mykonos town is cute but touristy. If you’ve never visited, I would suggest taking a half-day to walk around and explore. Try wandering down the maze-like streets at night and check out the shops along the way. One must-do while in town, is to try frozen greek yogurt topped with baklava!
Little Venice is the area of town that’s right on the water and comprised of lots of cute restaurants and bars. The patios are connected so you can stroll from one place to the next, it’s definitely worth checking out and having a drink while in town.
Little Venice!
To Summarize!
No matter how many times I go to Greece, I will always be left wanting more! More of the pristine beaches, more incredible food, more crystal clear stunning water, more amazing wine, need I say more? I could go on forever. Island hopping in Greece is always a good idea! With so many islands to choose from and explore, you can go every year and still be left wanting more. Use this itinerary as well as my guides for Paros, Santorini, Ios, Zakynthos, and Milos as a starting point for your first Greek adventure. I promise it won’t be your last!
If you have any further questions regarding Mykonos or if I left anything out, feel free to write them in the comments below, and as always, have a blast when you go!
